I have loved every moment at Hanworth since my arrival three months ago for a “temporary” stay while I decide whether to remain in Brisbane or return overseas. Finding short term accommodation that was not solely for students or backpackers was much harder than I anticipated. Therefore, when I came across Hanworth House I could not move in quick enough! Living in one of Australia’s most recognised historic homes, recently restored and lovingly brought back to former life by owner Marisa Vecchio, is an absolute privilege. Marisa’s generosity and warmth makes you feel welcome immediately and her love of Hanworth is obvious and infectious. The footprint of the house, with numerous kitchens, bathrooms, living spaces, landscaped gardens and outdoor seating areas, provides solitude and privacy when needed but is also the perfect setting for our “happy hour” and regular (countless) social gatherings. The various ages and professions of those staying here are a good mix and it is so nice to come home from work or travel knowing I can unwind and have a laugh with them if I want. The location is perfect as well, close to buses and City Cat you are only minutes away from the CBD, West End, New Farm and Bulimba; I often walk to South Bank and catch the City Cat back. Sitting on the front lawn or verandas you have a terrific view of the city and is a great spot to chill with your family and friends. Hanworth really is more than a place to stay, it has been home to me and has given me wonderful memories and friendships which will last long after I move on.
